OnePlus February 2026 OxygenOS Update Brings Major AI Photo and Video Editing Upgrades
OnePlus has released a comprehensive February 2026 OxygenOS update, bringing significant AI-powered enhancements to its smartphone and tablet lineup. The update, version B40P02, introduces improved AI Eraser functionality, expanded video editing capabilities, and an upgraded AI Writer feature across dozens of eligible devices.
AI Eraser Gets Smarter
The Photos app receives the most substantial improvements. AI Eraser now produces cleaner results with fewer visible traces in removed areas, delivering more natural-looking edits. The Remove reflections feature has also been enhanced, better handling glare in document shots and portraits of people wearing glasses.
A new "Popout" option in the Collage tool lets users create striking effects by making photo subjects appear to break out of the frame, adding a creative dimension to mobile photo editing.
Video Editing Transformed
The built-in video editor has received a major upgrade, now supporting cutting, splitting, multi-clip stitching, music overlays, text additions, speed adjustments, and cropping. This essentially transforms the gallery app into a lightweight editing suite, eliminating the need for third-party apps for basic video editing tasks.
Additional improvements include smoother gesture animations when browsing images, optimized thumbnail parsing on OxygenOS 16 devices, and new filters for Motion Photos, screenshots, and edited media. Auto Straighten can now quickly fix skewed buildings and portraits.
AI Writer Expanded
On OxygenOS 16 devices, AI Writer's "Write anything" mode has expanded to support compositions, proposals, job descriptions, and even video scripts. Private Safe has also been improved, allowing users to edit media directly without removing it from the secure folder first.
Eligible Devices
The update is rolling out to an extensive range of devices including the OnePlus 15 series, OnePlus 13/13R, OnePlus 12 series, OnePlus 11, the entire Nord lineup, and older models down to the OnePlus 8. The rollout began in mid-February and is expected to complete by March 5, 2026.
